Description

From your goth sister, the victorian goth dream. Inspired by Mrs Lovett and Liv Tyler’s lace dress in Plunkett and Macleane, and Satine’s Temptress dressing gown: here is what Morticia Addams would wear in 1885.

The dress

It starts from a bespoke corset. Not the base one I usually make when asked, a proper historical corset base, with historical cut. The beauty of the round 1885 belly, the push up effect… but with a modern twist. This corset laces at the back, but does not open at the front. It is the bodice itself, and it is in the color of your skin. Over it, wilk organza plays in sheer pleats, giving the viewer the illusion that yes, that’s extactly the shape your body has and there’s no corset on. Veiled and sequined sleeves cover half your arms, everything is finished with black beaded fringe andchantilly lace. A standing collar completes the look. This time the back closes with metal eyelets, to keep it more lingerie-like. The neckline will plunge more than history would have wanted, even for Paris.

The skirt is magic. Over a skin-tone base, a sheer cage of velvet ribbon and silk organza keeps the correct historical shape, with a distinctive and original modern placement fro the boning.

The process

The dress will be bespoke: it will include a mock-up of the corset/bodice. It will fit only you, no sizes here. YOU.

Please note that the creation of this gown is a meticulous process, requiring at least 10 months to complete.

This will be a one of a kind piece, made to fit only you, and that will not have twins around the globe. It is like a one of a kind painting, a spell that will inhabit your closet.

I do accept Payment Plans for this piece. Click on the link to know more!

Extra treats

If you wish to make this extra special, you can add budget to add the use of antique trimmings and lace. However this will make the dress extra delicate. It is not something I would suggest if this will be used for stage. .

*please note that the shapes and colors of the sketch model are there just to give an idea. Every body type, color and gender is more than welcome.
