Description

No one is the same. All made of hand pleated vintage silk, in vibrant colors, some of them in woven brocades, others beaded, these gowns are an evergreen and are the third style I offer, isnpired by the paintings of Alma Tadema and Godward.

These dresses I created have all the same style, and come in one size (they’re wide, they’re long, the sleeves are so large I can fit in one of them with my torso) and are supposed to be styled with ribbons. The silk is pleated, hence these need very little maintenace: dry cleaningand twisting to be kept away, no need for pressing or steaming. The neck opening is extra wide so your elaborate hairstyles can pass thorugh as well.

They can be used for a huge variety of themes (ideal for photographers who need a versatile piece in their studio) from gods to goddesses (they are also unisex), to ancient enchantresses, roman or grecian ladies, priestesses, nymphs, muses and all of that. There is also a Preraphaelite themed party next carnevale, so these may be a comfy and stunning option.

With this listing you purchase the dress. The shoulder ribbon, the draped fabric on the hips, the jewelry are not included. You will only get the vintage silk garment, to style as you prefer.

As the Sybil and Athenais dress, this is a style I will keep for a while, but not forever. I will not accept commissions for a certain color: you choose from the list of the available ones. So, if you see a color you like, hesitation may lead to regrets.

*Inspired by the costumes designed by Gabriella Pescucci for the Domina series. Those costumes to my knowledge are not available to the public for purchase, and this style does not replicate exactly a single costume from the show, it simply aims to get a similar aesthetic.
**These dresses are made from vintage sarees, washing can damage the silk and the beadwork, so they may come with the features of vintage items (minor damage, some odour), which are part of the uniqueness of the piece. Patterns on sarees do vary a lot, especially for embroidered ones: I will do my best to create a pleasing placement, but there may be some uneven or asymmetrical areas, due to the starting material. Once again, this is the beauty of owning a one of a kind garment with is made from luxury fabric and is also good for the environment.
